Feathers of such bright color
She is remarkable in everything that makes her who she is
Years go by and she remains in her nest of comfort
A nest she built piece by piece, sturdy and strong
So that it would endure all the climate changes and stand the test of time
She remained in this nest because she felt her wings were broken
This nest provides warmth and a place of safety
It's familiar and known not to change
She grows tired of watching others take to the sky
They experience life while she watches
Her radiant colors have been tucked away as she perched in her nest for so long
She is ready to spread those wings and fly
On the edge ready to plunge
Knowing she will either fall and hit the ground hard to be more broken or to soar and own the sky
She takes a moment stretches, raises her head and spreads those wings as far as she can
And she soars, another beautiful bird to brighten the world
She is amazing, beautiful, and graceful in her flight If she only knew she wasn't so broken after all
